DRAW / PAINT I

 

Draw/Paint I will include the following experiences: studying strong contrast of light & dark, creating textures & patterns, sketch still-life’s, gesture drawings, sketching posed figures, contour / blind contour drawings, asymmetrical compositions, one & two-point perspective.

 

Media may include charcoal, conte crayon, drawing pencils, felt tip pen, chalk and wax crayon.

 

Students will also explore a variety of media in experimental and traditional approaches painting such as watercolor and acrylic activities.

 

Credit: 1.0

Materials: Sketchbook, two #2 pencils & a large eraser     

Voluntary Contribution: $15

DRAW/PAINT II

Draw/Paint 2 is a second course in the study of drawing and painting. Emphasis on posed figures in action, complicated still-life’s, and “emotional” drawing. Students will be exposed to a variety of media and tools.

 

This course will also include productions of visual images through planned use of color, form, space, design, and color relationships, color qualities which heighten expressive ideas and feelings such as watercolor and acrylic activities.

 

Credit: 1.0

Prereq: C or better in Draw/Paint I

Materials: Sketchbook, two #2 pencils & a large eraser     

Voluntary Contribution: $15

PORTFOLIO

Portfolio is a continuation of advanced drawing and painting techniques for the serious art student.

 

Credit: 1.0

Prereq: C or better in both Draw/Paint I and Draw/Paint II

Materials: Sketchbook, two #2 pencils, large eraser 

 

 

             

ADVANCED PLACEMENT 

Advancement Placement varies with student.

 

An advanced placement course is the equivalent of an introductory college course in studio art. Highly motivated art students may earn college credit by submitting their work for evaluation (by the college examination board) at the end of the school year.

 

Credit: 1.0

Prereq: AP Teacher Approval

Materials: Sketchbook, two #2 pencils, large eraser

Voluntary Contribution: none

The Art Room is open to students needing to make-up/further art work Tuesday & Wednesday during 4th period planning (will need a pass from your regularly scheduled class) & after school  from 2:00-2:30.
